Real Wood Beams Are Heavy And Expensive – There Is A Better Way

There are several ways to get the beam look without installing actual wood beams.

If you want the real wood look you can make a hollow beam two sides and a bottom with 45 degree cuts at the corners.

If you want a painted beam there are many plaster and foam products that look like beams. These are light and easy to install.

But there is another way. Build the beam out of drywall and then put on a faux finish to make it look like wood. I'm told you don't have to be a painting wizard to do this type of finish. Watch the video and see how it is done.
