A corner works best for this type of shelving because the shelves get support from both walls.

To put a floating shelf on a straight wall usually means opening the wall to attach the support that sticks out and gets hidden in the shelf structure to the side of the stud.

Made from 2x4s 1/4 inch plywood and some molding, this is a project even someone with beginner skills could tackle.
