Here Is An Alternative To Using Cardboard Mats Around Your Art

Have you considered using 1/4″ plywood for the mat around the painting? Start with a 1/2″ MDF backing for the art, Then tack on the the 1/4″ ply wood stlips with mitered corners and beveled edges. Paint to the color desired. Fasten the art, add the glass and enclose this assembly in a frame.
