One Way Is To Spray A Fine Abrasive On Them

It's actually a small sand blaster gun.
You can put fine sand or baking soda or walnut shells and probably other things in the hopper that get shot out with the stream of compressed air.
It's an inexpensive quick way to clean up those dirty rusty tools and parts.

Have you tried this to restore cast iron? As a cast iron collector who finds badly rusted pans and restore them. Seems soda would not harm, only remove what should not be there.
