Foundations for any structure will vary depending on what part of the country you live in. They will also depend on the weight being supported (For A deck that isn't a key factor).

The depth of the footing is mostly dependent on how deep the frost goes in the winter. I believe this video was shot in the NE United States so 4′ depth sounds good. Down further south it would be less. Up here in Calgary Alberta where I live the foundation for an unheated building is to be built 7 ‘ deep. Your local building code will have the exact requirements.

I might put a couple of more pieces of rebar in the sonotube. and would probably embed a metal shoe on top of the concrete to hold the deck post in place.
