This design is not your standard end grain cutting board.

The secret is to turn dowels on the lathe and the glue them in place.

You actually start with a plain non end grain board and drill holes in it for the dowel disks. The trick is to size them properly to make the design. It's also a little tricky to get the dowel the same diameter as the forstner bit hole size.
