I’m a licensed contractor, insurance adjuster and a business owner. I never thought of using a speed square for a level. Thanks buddy. Keep up the hard work.
I like the speed square level idea. It made me realize you can also use it to find the pitch of a roof. I always used a torpedo level under a speed square with the pivot point locked on the low side of the pitch but now I see you can do it this way. Most people have a chalk line with them for roof work so basically you’d just put your speed square 45 degree leg down near the edge of the roof or rafter so your string can hang over with the zero degree end on the high side, hang your chalk line on the pivot point like you did for level, and just subtract 45 from the angle you get. Viola! You have the angle and with a speed square it is easy to convert it to pitch.
You people should be ashamed of yourselves! The guy obviously needs some polishing of his terminology and techniques, but he’s showing basic “tricks” that will help anyone, not just with framing a house, but basic geometry or trigonometry.
Just because YOU already know this info doesn’t mean everyone does! I’m sure it has helped someone. Work on your delivery and terminology dude and you’ll be fine.

I have a $10 tool that finds angles. All you do is put in on the underside of rafter or stair runner and it measures the angle for you. If you had to follow this guy’s tips it would take you a year to build a house. What you do is frame the whole wall on the floor, measure corner to corner and voila done. Tack it to the floor and start sheeting. This guy is a beginner
